Reflection
This collection of writing exemplifies some of my best work, including features, news stories, and perspectives. While some of my stories, such as my lighthouse perspective piece and my feature story about the recall election were about topics that I am deeply passionate about, some of my best stories, including the Creamery fundraiser and Olivia Rodrigo pieces, were much further outside of my wheelhouse. Writing the "The power of 'sour'" in particular allowed me to combine my interest in politics with Rodrigo's music career, noting that she appeared at the White House to set up her popularity. Meanwhile, I dug deep in "Lighting the Way" where I grappled with how my lifelong passion, lighthouses, is relevant to a larger audience. I also explored the long and dangerous history of antisemitism in America with the "Teaching the Holocaust" feature. Finally, my "Wellness Center adapts for in-person cohorts" story challenged me to place the most important information of the story first; this struggle improved my writing in future stories.
